Rapunzel Movie

This 2-minute short film about finding your own route to freedom has had over seven hundred thousand views* on YouTube – watch it now to find out why!

‘Rapunzel – The Blonde Years’ shows how you can use your mind to creatively solve your problems in new and exciting ways. This short film has continued to screen at film festivals around the world since then.

Interestingly, in 2010, nearly two years after Rapunzel was made, the GHD hair straightening company made a TV commercial with a very similar theme. I wrote to GHD offering to pitch script ideas for their next ad campaign, but for some reason they never got back to me. I don’t mind, though – imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Rapunzel was funded by the Irish Film Board in 2008 under the Virtual Cinema Scheme.  I wrote the script, and took on the role of producer so that my good friend and social media guru Fiona Ashe could focus on adding her magic director’s touch to the project.

Rapunzel stars former ski champion Orlaith Doherty as Rapunzel, and the hilarious Gordon Mahon as the dashing Handsome Prince.

  1. Hi Trisha

Wow! What a wide, varied and wonderful career you’ve had to date…and why do I get the feeling that ‘It’s only just begun!’ as Karen Carpenter would have said. Delighted to come across you here. Although I only live across the fields (well the far arse end of east meath to be precise) from you, it was actually through Katie Tallo in the US of A that I saw your blog! I’m only a newbie but I’m like Alice in Bloggerland. Captivated, a little lost and loving it.

Best wishes and looking forward to reading your novel

  2. Thank you so much for your feedback, Rosemary. I feel personally obliged now to keep to my commitment of writing an entire novel for National Novel Writing Month during November (#NaNoWriMo if you want to follow it on Twitter!)

Good luck with your blogging – with Katie, Mary and Leo there cheering you on every step of the way, you can’t go wrong!

    Trish
