My Toolkit

These are the tools I use to keep this website on the road, including my favourite providers for hosting, graphic design, learning and reading. Don’t worry, there are no affiliate links here, in keeping with my Anti-Cookie policy.

A laptop on a desk

My favourite tool. I create all the visuals on this website with Canva.com. I’ve used it for nonprofits for years. You can create great social media posts, YouTube thumbnails and reports, and resize them for every platform with just a click. I’d be lost without Canva!

Kindle

A kindle, a bun and a cup of tea

When I don’t have my nose in a physical paperback, Kindle is my ebook reader of choice, especially if you like to buy pdf e-books from bloggers, YouTubers and others. Send them to Kindle and you can organise them all in your online library.

TrishGroves.com is built on Squarespace. I chose it because it’s beautifully simple. Even though I enjoy web design, I prefer, not to spend hours fiddling with the settings, or doing lots of updates (looking at you, WordPress plugins!).

Person sitting on the floor in a record store

I don’t know about you, but music really helps me to concentrate, to work, to relax and to have fun. I love Spotify, because it has lots of artists’ back catalogues, and obscure music that I haven’t found anywhere else. It’s great for long journeys too.

Headphones and a model of a chimp

It can be a solitary life as a content creator and web content manager. It’s easy to find other creators in Substack, a new(ish) platform full of fascinating blogs that you can subscribe to. For email newsletters I also recommend Mailchimp and HubSpot.

Woman making a YouTube video

Ah, what would we do without YouTube? I’ve learned so much about life, the universe and everything on YouTube (to misquote Douglas Adams). It’s a great platform for nonprofits too, and is the world’s second largest search engine. If you’re not there, you’re invisible.
